APA's call for proposals for the April 2018 National Planning Conference will open on August 1.

When the full Call information is released, it will include a new category of "Research-based Sessions." These are described as presenting, "...the results of recently completed or ongoing planning research. Sessions might include a panel of researchers working on complimentary projects, or a session might pair researcher(s) with practitioners who contributed to the research or are using results of the research, or discussants who are to comment on the research findings."

This category is intended to respond to the concerns of APA's Academic Membership Task Force that APA conferences create spaces more amenable to faculty/researcher presentations.

The deadline for submissions is August 29, 2017. The National Planning Conference itself will be held April 21-24, 2018, in New Orleans.

Current preliminary text about the Call is available online.
